Experiment over

The last weigh I had +1.2 which was stress induced, it's all but gone now and I have to say, despite the fact that certain carbs are extremely cheap and they do bulk out the meals nicely, I'm just not prepared for such slow weight loss. If I wanted the annoying 0.5 lb per week losses that had me believing it was something to get excited about, I'd go back on weight watchers. I much prefer a couple pounds per week with high fat. I have been tweaking the budget and will simply rely more on cheaper things like kefir, eggs, bone broth and slow cook cuts of meat. Less cheese, more liver pate. The farmer asked if we'd have some chickens when it's their time to go to that great freezer in the sky, we jumped at the chance! I'm going to ask for a big bag of the feet too, maybe he'll give them for free and I can get extra gelatine'y broth. That's the best kind. My nails & hair have never looked better anyway and my skin, while still recovering, is coming along nicely :)

Stirfry with beef, asian style veggie mix and a sauce i made of broth, tamari and sambal

Stirfry with leftover roast beef, broccoli and some of aforementioned cheap carbs buckwheat noodles in spicy 'peanut' sauce... buckwheat noodles were important for our vegetarian diet, we ate them twice per week. This gave me a terribly painful reaction in the guts, won't be buying them ever again.

One of the cheaper meal ideas, boiled sausage, scrambled eggs with a bit of herbed cream cheese, liver and veggies

A small but satisfying lunch of a little wedge of camembert, ham rolls with mayo and a little piece of baked oatmeal.

Yet another stirfry of italian style veggie mix, beef, broth, cream cheese, tomato paste and italian herb mix.

Not posted were the other cheap carb experimental meals with potato and rice. With the ups and downs of weight, I can say this money saving meal bulking experiment is over. I have a goal to reach and will figure out a way to get my main diet into the budget! Every week it gets closer and closer which is awesome! For me a main diet of High fat, Low carb, Moderate protein = happy, satisfied, no food symptoms and getting fit. It's worth it to find a way to make it work when those carby things just make me sick (well duh, phytates and glutens) or slow down progress to frustratingly low speeds (hello insulin = fat storing).
